How to Cancel a Solar Contract in Florida (2026 Guide)
Florida homeowners see heavy door-to-door and phone solar sales. Florida's home solicitation law gives you a short window to change your mind.
Your right to cancel in Florida
- For a home solicitation sale, you can cancel until midnight of the third business day after you sign.
- In Florida, a business day is any day except Sunday and federal holidays, so Saturdays count.
- Cancel in writing: deliver it in person or mail it to the address in your agreement. A mailed notice counts from its postmark date, and any written statement that you no longer want to be bound is enough.
- Unsolicited phone sales are covered too, not only door-to-door sales.
Florida solar rules to know
- Check your installer's license with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation before and after the sale.
- If you were promised savings, tax credits or a "free" system, keep every proposal, text and email. That evidence matters if you file a complaint or pursue a claim.
Missed the deadline?
